About

Seems like hearing a little about me may help you to understand my attraction to the wabi-sabi-home.  There has always been a part of me that’s appreciated the simple things in life, taking walks, appreciating nature around me and keeping my surroundings simple and practical.  I’ve enjoyed the challenge of taking someone’s tossed aside piece and bringing it to a restorative place.  Using things found in nature to create practical pieces.  Looking at a quality crafted work of art and thinking, “How could I do something like that?”  Finding ways to express who I am in how I decorate, is always a fun challenge.  I like using warm colors, different textures, unique finds, and keeping in mind chemical free and clutter free practical spaces.  Plants too, have always been a simple and inexpensive way to bring a healthy element into the home.  Being around lots of green healthy plants growing up, went into me and remained a part.  Thus remembering,  a big part of your environment greatly influences you!  I like to keep that in mind as I decorate, what  I enjoy in my surroundings, what brings me and my family feelings of warmth, security and  relaxation.  What do I want to say about my home when people enter?  With all these things in mind, you can see why my husband and I have enjoyed building and rehabbing houses.  Together we have combined our gifts and talents and expressed ourselves through the homes we have done.  We like to see our projects as an empty canvas waiting to come to life in what we value and find beauty in.

Part of this blog will be to take you along on our current project, our challenge  to turn a garage/workshop into a creative hilltop home,  along with our future plan to build small and creative green cottages.  So watch for this, as well as decorating tips, organizational ideas, healthy solutions and affordable ways to compliment your home.
